Tennis tournament from today

HYDERABAD: About 200 students from across the country will be in the fray in the Indus School all-India ranking tennis tournament for under-12 boys’ and girls’ to be held at the institution’s Yapral campus, near Sainikpuri, here from September 8 to 14.

At a press conference here, Tournament Secretary, Surendernath Goud, said the All India Tennis Association (AITA) ranked Championship Series event would be played on four synthetic courts, with Mohd. Abdullah and Pooja Desai given the pride of place in the seedings.

Meanwhile, a State-level championship for boys’ and girls’, that carries total prize money of Rs. 10,000 would also be organised at the ECIL and NFC courts, the school’s principal, G. Jayaprakash Rao, said.
