Yousuf hard to trace these days

Karachi: Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf appears to be the most in-demand, but hard to trace these days.

After the Pakistan Cricket Board, the International Cricket Council is now trying desperately to contact him regarding his nomination in three categories of the ICC Awards.

PCB officials confirmed that the ICC had also failed to locate Yousuf as it needs him to provide a personal message for a special brochure being published for the ICC Awards ceremony.

“He is not traceable again. The last time we were able to contact him was when the Board Chairman spoke to him on telephone and he promised to meet him on September 22 to discuss the Indian Cricket League issue,” an official said.

Yousuf has been nominated in three categories of the ICC awards after scoring a record breaking 1,788 runs in 11 Tests with nine hundreds in 2006.

He along with former captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Imran Farhat and Abdul Razzaq last month signed for the ICL after being overlooked for the Twenty20 World Cup.

Yousuf had told the Chairman that he was busy with a preaching tour in Pakistan’s mountainous northern areas with a religious congregation and would not return to the city until September 21.

Yousuf requested the Chairman not to discuss any cricket matters or bother him until his religious tour was over.

The ICC is also worried because chances are that Yousuf will not abandon his religious tour and go to Johannesburg to attend the ICC Awards ceremony on September 10. — PTI
