Brijesh Patel threatens legal action

BANGALORE: The surcharged campaign for the KSCA elections took a nasty turn on Tuesday with KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel deciding to file a Rs. 10-crore defamation suit against Srikanta Datta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar, who is contesting for the president’s post, for levelling “baseless and malicious” allegations against him at a media meet on Monday.

Brijesh Patel, who is seeking another term as secretary, addressing the media on Tuesday, repeated his denial of all charges, including that of financial irregularities levelled by Mr. Wadiyar.

Brijesh Patel further said Mr. Wadiyar should tender a public apology through press and electronic media within 24 hours upon receiving the notice sent to him, failing which legal action would be initiated seeking Rs.10 crores in damages for tarnishing his name and that of the association.

Present along with Brijesh Patel at the press meet was G.R. Viswanath, who is contesting for the President’s post against Mr. Wadiyar. — Special Correspondent
