J&K Minister resigns
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Housing and Urban Development Qazi Mohammad Afzal resigned from the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, following Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s decision to strip him of the portfolio of Forests and Environment on Sunday.
PDP not consulted
Mr. Qazi’s resignation is likely to plunge the coalition government into a crisis as he has alleged that the leadership of his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was not taken into confidence before Mr. Azad took the decision.
The PDP has not yet reacted officially to the development.
