Student bodies to observe ‘betrayal day’

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Left student organisations have decided to observe September 10 as ‘betrayal day’ in protest against the Government’s “failure” to keep its promises in foreign policy and education.

The Students Federation of India, All India Students Federation, All India Students Block and All India Progressive Students Union have planned an “intensive campaign” in all universities and campuses against the “imperialist policies” of the Government.

The India-U.S. nuclear deal was the last straw on the camel’s back, the organisations said. All these policies were aimed at developing strategic ties with the U.S. at the cost of Indian interests, they said.
