Muslims lag behind: board

Lucknow: The All-India Muslim Women Personal Law Board on Saturday expressed concern over what it claimed was the backwardness of Muslims in the country.

“Even 60 years after Independence, Muslims lag behind in the field of education, politics and are economically backward,” chairperson Shaista Amber said while speaking at a seminar here.

A ‘morcha’ comprising Dalits, backward classes and Muslims would be formed to work for the interest of these communities. Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rehman Burq said education was the key to the success of any community. — PTI
