Public-police ties highlighted

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A senior police officer in the city on Sunday highlighted the significance of improved relations between the public and police in crime prevention.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Choolaimedu Exnora Innovators Club, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Triplicane) M Ramasubramani urged the members to join the Friends of Police (FoP) movement. Club Secretary S. Kasturi Rangan said 50 members would join the FoP movement initially. Police should consider making Nelson Manickam Road one-way, he added.

Choolaimedu Inspector of Police (law and order) G. Kumar and sub-inspector R. Ramachandran were honoured at the function for solving the kidnap of a six-year-old boy in Choolaimedu recently.
