Consultations on, says Pranab

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Congress has initiated consultations with all UPA allies on the India-United States civilian nuclear deal prior to a Parliamentary debate on the issue, Union Minister for External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee said on Saturday. “Wait and watch” was his terse response when asked about the options before the government, which has virtually been taken to the brink by the Left dissent over the deal.

Debate

Mr. Mukherjee, who on Saturday launched the branch secretariat of the MEA here, said the deal would soon come up for debate in Parliament, the date of which would be determined by the Business Advisory Committee.
