Plans unit in Gujarat or Maharashtra Executing orders worth Rs. 180 cr.
NEW DELHI: Kirby Building Systems India Ltd., a manufacturer of pre-engineered steel buildings (PEB), has announced capacity expansion at its Haridwar and Hyderabad plants besides planning to set up another unit in Maharashtra or Gujarat. The expansion envisages increase in capacity from one lakh tonnes to two lakh tonnes over a one year period. Post-expansion, the capacities will increase to 1.25 lakh tonnes and 75,000 tonnes at Hyderabad and Haridwar plants respectively. Speaking on the occasion Praveen Tandon, Chairman and Managing Director, Kirby Building Systems India, said, “This expansion programme is in line with Kirby’s ambitious plans of reaching a turnover of Rs. 800 crore from the Indian operations in a few years.” Following the expansion, Kirby will account for over 50 per cent of the total PEB capacity in India. It is now enjoying a 55 per cent market share of the domestic PEB industry. “Over the years, we have satisfactorily supplied our products to companies like Thermax, Videocon and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and are now executing orders worth Rs. 180 crore for blue chip clients like Reliance Industries, and Pipavav Shipyard. Kirby is also setting up a greenfield plant in Vietnam with capacity of 50,000 tonnes. With this we can maintain our leadership position internationally”, he said. Applications
According to Mr. Tandon, PEBs find application in warehouses, supermarkets, auto agencies, offices, aircraft hangars, workshops, and high-rise agricultural, commercial and recreational buildings. With distinctive advantages like faster completion of construction, cost effectiveness, larger clear spans, flexibility for expansion, superior factory-controlled quality, light weight, earthquake resistance, portable and easy to relocate to another site, PEBs have proven to be ideal for buildings like malls, business parks, hotels, hospitals and the like.
