Tamil Nadu posts win

Coimbatore: Defending champion Tamil Nadu began its campaign by defeating Andhra Pradesh 25-14, 25-15 in its opening fixture of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation volleyball tournament here on Wednesday.

Earlier, Karnataka scored a 25-14, 25-14 win over Kerala.

Double for Sruti

At Puducherry, G. Sruthi (St. Patrick’s HSS) clinched the junior girls’ and women’s titles in the sixth State-ranking table tennis tournament.

Haritha triumphs

At Tiruchi, Haritha Krishnan and Ramya won 800m gold in the u-19 and 17 sections respectively at the KVS regional-level athletic tournament for girls on Wednesday.

Under-19: 800m: Haritha Krishnan (KV, Pangode); 100m hurdles: R. Saranya (KV, INS, Dronacharya); 4x100m: KV Sulur; 4x400m: KV Sulur; Long jump: R. Rini Gladys (KV No.1, Madurai); High jump: R. Aparna (KV, IIT); Shot put: M. Bhooma (KV No.1 Tambaram).
