HYDERABAD: A total of 87 countries have confirmed their participation so far for the Military World Games (MWG) which are scheduled to be held here from October 14, said Brigadier General Gianni Gola, president of the CISM (Conseil International du Sport Militaire) which is the organising body for the event, at a press meet here on Wednesday. He added that the organisers are expecting the number of participating countries to go up to one hundred before the games get underway. Majority from Europe
It was announced that the majority of the countries are from Europe (34) followed by Africa (23), Asia (16) and Americas (14). Brigadier General Gola said that a review was undertaken of the preparations which are in progress. The various sub-committees were all satisfied with the progress made till now. He was confident that everything will be ready by September 15. He also said that the next (fifth) edition of the Games will be held in Brazil in 2011. — Special Correspondent
