CHENNAI: The Department of Posts on Wednesday released a special cover in commemoration of Madras Day (August 22). Indira Krishnakumar, Principal Chief Postmaster-General, Tamilnadu circle released the cover, which was received by Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathy. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Tripathy appealed to people to take a resolve on this day to make Chennai a beautiful place to live in. The people of Chennai should be proud as the city was a cultural hub of the country. Only those who were living here could feel the beauty of the city. The Government had been implementing schemes to beautify the city further. Steps were being taken to improve the Marina, Elliots and Thiruvanmiyur beach stretches. The Rs 100-crore eco project in the Adayar Creek would sensitise the people to ecology. All river mouths, including that of the Cooum, were being cleaned.
