CHENNAI: Regular exercise will help the police to stay fit, said Commissioner of Police G. Nanchil Kumaran on Wednesday.

Speaking at a free medical camp organised for policemen by the M.V. Hospital for Diabetes, he said that fitness would give relief from the stress and help in preventing stress-related diseases.

About 200 police personnel, including women police, attached to the Central zone were treated at the camp. Additional Commissioner S.R. Jangid, Joint Commissioner (Central zone) P. Balasubramanian and Deputy Commissioners M. Ramasubramani, K. Joshi Nirmal Kumar and B. Vijayakumari attended the camp.

A team of doctors led by Vijay Viswanathan, Managing Director of the Hospital screened the patients at the Community Hall in Thousand Lights.

A press release from the hospital said that it had conducted a similar camp for the North zone police few months ago in which 48 per cent of them were detected with diabetes.
