CHENNAI: The State Government has said that hereafter, new Tamil films, claiming tax benefits for Tamil titles, will get the exemption only after scrutiny by a Committee.
An official release said the titles of many Tamil movies were against the objective of the Government and tarnished Tamil Culture and language.
The Committee would check whether the titles adhered to the rules laid down by the Government and then recommend the films for tax exemption.
It would be headed by Secretary, Commercial Tax and Registration Department with Secretaries of Tamil Development, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Information Department and Director Tamil Development as members, the release added. — Special Correspondent
