PT blames police for Tenkasi clash
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Puthiya Tamilagam president M. Krishnasamy on Friday blamed the police for the group clash at Tenkasi, in which six persons were killed.
Addressing reporters here, he said the feud between the two groups had been simmering for the last six months, and the police failed to take appropriate steps.
Urging the Government to fill vacancies for the post of lecturers in government colleges, Dr. Krishnasamy said there were 522 vacancies in 67 colleges.
The Chief Minister had assured the Assembly that the backlog would be cleared in two phases. Even the High Court had ordered early filling of the vacancies.
Over 500 qualified candidates were available. If the Government failed to fill the vacancies before September 15, the party would organise a series of agitations.
