Vollys Club tournament

CHENNAI: Vollys Club will conduct its 17th annual State-level volleyball tournament at the Corporation ground, Ashok Nagar from August 20 to 25.

Aircel is the major sponsor. Eight men’s teams and four women’s sides will participate. The men’s section is divided into two groups and the top two from each group will clash in the semifinals.

The four teams on the distaff side will play a round-robin league format, and the team with the most number of points will emerge winner.

Speaking to newspersons here on Friday, Nirmal Kumar, Secretary, Vollys Club, said Indian Overseas Bank would not take part in the tournament as some of its players are injured, while a few others are attending the National camp.

The teams: Men: Pool A: Indian Bank, City Police, State Bank of India, Armed Police; Pool B: SDAT, TNEB, Southern Railway, Central Excise.

Women: SDAT, GKM, Armed Police, SRM.
