NEW DELHI: The Bahujan Samaj Party petitions, seeking disqualification of three of its Lok Sabha members on the ground of defection, were referred to the Committee of Privileges.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee referred the petitions to the committee.
It has been asked to submit a report before the last day of the ongoing Parliament session.
Mr. Chatterjee said in the Lok Sabha that petitions were submitted by BSP leader Rajesh Verma. After receiving the comments from the three members, he had decided to refer them to the committee.
The three members are dissidents and the action against them has been taken by the party under the Rule 6 of the Members of Lok Sabha (Disqualification on ground of Defection) Rules 1985.
