BANGALORE: Defending champion Al-Ameen College let things drift in the second set before registering a 25-9, 28-26 win over N.S.A.M.C. (Yelahanka) in a Group ‘A’ match of the State-level inter-collegiate volleyball tournament at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium outdoor courts here on Wednesday.
Alva’s Moodbidri and St. Joseph’s (Commerce) too fashioned straight sets victory. While Alva’s outclassed Kumarans 25-7, 25-16, SJCC downed Vijaya College25-17, 25-12.
Later, Alva’s overpowered St. Joseph’s (Arts & Science) 25-22, 25-20.
Teams that qualified for the knock-out stage beginning on Thursday: Al- Ameen, St. Joseph’s (Arts & Sc.), BHS, Vivekananda, Alva’s, SJCC, NSAMC (Yelahanka), Surana.
