Bangalore: Tejas Wagle’s 115 and S. Prajwal’s 115 helped Bangalore Zone post 422 for seven in 90 overs against Mangalore Zone in a S.A. Srinivasan Memorial tournament under-22 inter-zonal match that commenced here on Monday. In another match, Nayeem Indikar’s unbeaten 145 helped Raichur Zone score 244 and, in reply, Dharwad Zone mustered 63 for three in 23 overs. The scores: Bangalore Zone 422 for seven in 90 overs (Tejas Wagle 115, S. Prajwal 115, Stalin Hoover 70, K.V. Bharath 41, Farooqui Zahoor four for 95) vs Mangalore Zone. Raichur Zone 244 in 69.5 overs (Nayeem Indikar 145 n.o.) vs Dharwad Zone 63 for three in 23 overs. Combined City XI 227 in 74 overs (Nikhil Kashyap 93, Arjun Shetty eight for 60) vs President’s XI 60 for one in 14 overs. Mysore Zone 196 in 52.5 overs (Karthik Raghavan 76) vs Tumkur Zone 129 for four in 36 overs. Big win for Synergy
Synergy Sports Club beat Kaveri Sports Club 6-1 and, by virtue of a better goal difference, entered the quarterfinals of the State ‘C’ division league hockey tournament here on Monday. Thimanna (27th), Rahul Katke (32nd & 48th), Rakshith (36th), Dasarath (56th) and Nachappa (60th) scored for Synergy while Belliappa (58th) scored Kaveri’s goal. In an earlier match, Bellary Hockey Club beat Rising Stars 13-1. Pramod (12th), Venkatesh (11th,13th,18th, 20th, 22nd and 27th) , Mylar (25th), Praveen Reddy (28th), Shashi (32nd & 59th), Ratnakar (37th) and Ravi (58th) were the scorers for Bellary HC and Punith (12th) netted for Rising Stars. Army School (MEG) routed Bangalore Military School 8-0 in the Dr. G.S. Randhawa memorial inter-school hockey tournament played at the hockey stadium here on Monday. Arun Kumar (20th & 46th) and Vijay (35th & 36th) Nagalinga (28th), Avinash (37th), Chamraj (38th) and Bhavanth (44th) scored for the winner. Sports School (Kudige) pounded St. Germain’s to win 11-0 with Karan (8th, 35th & 44th) and Dhanraj (17th, 30th & 38th) scoring a treble. Sasa Shivappa (4th & 25th) and Nischi (36th & 48th) and Sushan (10th) slotted home to complete the tally. Army School (ASC) scored a dozen against a hapless Vijaya Vidyalaya (Gulbarga). Kariappa (10th, 32nd, 40th, 45th & 48th), Balasubramaniam (5th, 19th & 41st), Chandan Aind (14th & 49th), Shankar Babu (34th) and Kutappa (46th) slotted goals for the winner. JSS College (Ooty Road) helped by goals by Abdul Rehman (20th min.) and Manoochar (46th min.) registered an upset 2-1 win over defending champion PG Sports Council, Manasagangothri in the semifinal Super League in the Hombegowda Memorial Gold Cup inter-collegiate football tournament, conducted by the Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore at their grounds, in Mysore on Monday. Abbas reduced the margin for the loser. The results: Semifinal super-league: JSS (Ooty Road) bt PG Sports Council 2-1 (Ht 1-1); St. Philomena’s FGC drew with VVFGC (0-0); VVFGC bt PG Sports Council 3-0; St. Philomena’s FGC bt JSS (Ooty Road) 1-0.
