KOLKATA: A premier division match of the Calcutta Football League saw the defending champion East Bengal trail Peerless SC by two goals (2-0) till the 68th minute but referee Dilip Ghosh mysteriously announced the abandonment of the match. The match, played under intermittent rains, saw visitor Peerless stun the host with a 23rd minute by Subair Ali. The visitor doubled its lead after Ali won a penalty decision and James Agbo made it 2-0. The match commissioner Sukriti Dutta later explained that the match was abandoned as there was not enough time to put up fresh markings —which were washed out by rains — around the ground. — Principal Correspondent
