India ‘A’ in command

New Delhi: Parthiv Patel and S. Badrinath notched up centuries to help India ‘A’ take complete control of its three-day cricket match against host Kenya with a 211-run lead on the penultimate day at Mombasa on Saturday.

Replying to Kenya’s first innings 218, India ‘A’ declared its first innings at 429 for five in 92 overs and then reduced the rival side to 13 for two in 10.2 overs in its second innings at stumps on the second day.

Parthiv, who opened the innings with Niraj Patel, smashed 164 runs off 188 balls with 22 boundaries and one six during his stay. Badrinath’s unbeaten knock of 160 was studded with 19 boundaries and one six, while A.S. Yadav chipped in with a 90-ball 60 (7x4, 1x6).

For Kenya, N. Odhiambo was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 64 runs. Paceman Irfan Pathan picked two wickets for 10 runs, as Kenya was trailing by 198 runs.

The scores: Kenya 218 and 13 for two in 10.2 overs vs. India ‘A’ 429 for five in 92 overs (Parthiv Patel 164, S. Badrinath 160 not out, A.S. Yadav 60). — PTI
