NEW DELHI: Narrow victories over Australia I and Iran helped India hold a half-point lead over top seed Hungary after the ninth and penultimate round of the World youth under-16 chess Olympiad in Singapore on Friday. When the action resumed after a day of rest, India stopped Australia I 2.5-1.5 and then went on to beat Iran by a similar margin to tally 25 points. Meanwhile, Hungary bounced back into contention by scoring 4-0 victories over Switzerland and Uzbekistan for an aggregate of 24.5.
