Good bowling by Naveen, Bharath

HYDERABAD: Off-spinner Naveen’s fifth five-wicket haul (six for 104) for Post and Telegraph Colony and Bharath’s seven for 52 for Team Speed were the highlights of the drawn match in the A-1 Division two day matches league cricket championship on Thursday.

The scores: A-Div (two day matches): Nizam College 385 (G. Suresh Babu 113 , Sri Krishna 53 , B Ashuthosh Kumar 55, P Sanga Simha Reddy 53, Aneel Kaushik five for 90) drew with SA Sports Amberpet 159 for eight (Aneel Kaushik 55).

Galaxy CC 247 for nine( P Sridhar 70, Sai Raju 52, Santosh 51, Mehdi Hasan four for 56) and 201 for five (Avinash 99, P Sridhar 50) drew with Zinda Tilismath 217 (Naveed Siddiqui 71, Mehdi Hasan 57, Pedda Reddy 40) and 112 for eight (Anwar Khan four for 55, Vivek four for 43).

Team Speed 282 (S.S. Bharath Kumar 87, Naveen 6 for 104) drew with P & T Colony 95 and 178 for eight (Surender 47, Bharath seven for 52).

A-Div Institutions: National Insurance 220 for eight (Phani 53, Rahul Nallari 60, A.N. Sharma 51) lost to APSEB 224 for six (Vijay 67, Kaushik 50).

Somanth is top seed

South Central Railway’s Somanth Ghosh (SCR) and Gujarathi Seva Mandal’s Nikhat Banu (GSM) are the top seeds in the men and women sections respectively in the AP State-ranking table tennis tournament, which begins at the Vijayawada Club, Vijayawada, from Friday. The three-day tournament would witness more than 500 paddlers from all over the State. Additional Commissioner of Income Tax E.S. Nagendra Prasad will inaugurate the tournament.

The seedings: Men: Somanth Ghosh (SCR), Krishna Kiriti (Postal), Karan Mutha (Postal), T. Arundhar (SER).

Women: Nikhat Banu (GSM), P. Sri Lakshmi (Postal), Anupa Ruth (Postal), K. Harshita (Atp).
