NEW DELHI: After being out of the list since May 21 this year, long jumper Anju George is back in the world rankings. In the list released on Tuesday, she is ranked 28th. The list is headed by Brazilian Maurren Higa Maggi who was under a doping cloud in 2003. Anju’s performance (6.65m) in the recent Asian championships contributed towards her quick return to the top 30. Four Russians — Tatyana Lebedeva (2), Lyudmilla Kolchanova (3), Tatyana Kotova (6) and Oksana Urtova (7) — figure in the top eight of the long jump rankings. Joseph Abraham (400m hurdles-35), Hari Sankar Roy (high jump-57), Renjith Maheswary (triple jump - 19), Navpreet Singh (shot put - 49), Vikas Gowda (discus - 22), P. J. Vinod (decathlon-47) and Sinimole Paulose (800m-45, 1500m - 26), Preeja Sreedharan (5000m/10000m - 44) and Krishna Poonia (discus-26) are the other prominent Indians in the world ranking list. — Special Correspondent
