KOCHI: Tennis star Sanaa Bhambri came up with a convincing first round victory in the 24th World University Games in Bangkok on Thursday but it was a disappointing day for Indians in swimming and athletics. The results (tennis, Indians otherwise stated): Men’s singles first round: Hicham Laalej (Morocco) bt Suresh Krishna 6-4, 6-2; Mohammed Mehdi Benhammou (Morocco) bt Vijay Sundar Prasanth 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Women’s singles first round: Sanaa Bhambri bt Maja Senica (Slovakia) 6-1, 6-1. Doubles first round: Petrovych / Trubachova (Ukraine) bt Vishika Chetri / Parul Goswami 7-6(4), 6-4.
