Bangalore: K.J. Rakesh’s 107 went in vain as TNCA XI defeated Kerala CA by 60 runs in the KSCA all-India invitation tournament quarterfinals here on Thursday. Chasing TNCA XI’s 316, Kerala CA mustered 256 in 85.2 overs with only Rakesh (107, 178b, 16x4, 1x6) offering some resistance on the second and final day. In another quarterfinal, Devaraj Patil’s 139 (155b, 20x4, 2x6) and Sudhindra Shinde’s 122 (173b, 13x4) guided KSCA President’s XI to a five-wicket victory over KSCA Colts while chasing 415. The scores (quarterfinals): TNCA XI 316 in 55.4 overs bt Kerala CA 256 in 85.2 overs (K.J. Rakesh 107). Hyderabad CA 483 for nine in 100 overs bt Chemplast 270 in 61.2 overs (Ajay Kudua 82 not out, Hemanth Kumar 41).
