Lalu backs ICL
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Thursday supported the Indian Cricket League (ICL), floated by media baron Subhash Chandra.
At a press meet, Mr. Prasad said Railways’ would offer its stadiums to the ICL for holding the proposed Twenty-20 tournament and charge less.
On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said any player associating himself with the ICL would not get any benefits from the board.
Mr. Prasad, who is also the Bihar Cricket Association president, said: “It is a good initiative for cricket and its growth. It will give rise to competition and good players will be encouraged. The parallel league is a good thing for those who complain that they were not selected or ignored. This competition will be good for spotting good players and create a pool of talent.”
