TRIUMPHANT: The ICF team which won the St. Joseph’s all-India ball badminton men’s tournament posing with the chief guest, Babu Manoharan.
CHENNAI: Integral Coach Factory emerged triumphant in the St. Joseph’s all-India ball badminton men’s tournament which concluded at the College campus on Sunday. ICF dominated the competition at the super-league stage to such an extent that the last match which it lost to Hathway, Hyderabad, had no consequence to the final outcome. Dr. Babu Manoharan, Director, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, gave away the prizes. The results: St. Joseph’s, Chennai bt B.D.L, Hyderabad 29-27, 29-14; ICF, Chennai bt Southern Railway, Chennai 29-23, 29-15; ICF bt Hathway, Hyderabad 29-17,23-29, 29-0. Final positions: 1. ICF (Prize money Rs. 15,000), 2. Hathway (Rs. 12,000), 3. S. Railway (Rs. 8000), 4. St. Joseph’s (Rs. 4000). Velammal ‘A’ wins
Velammal ‘A’ won the Amutha Educational Trust inter-school chess rolling trophy at the Amutha MHSS (Muggpair West) recently. Kilambur Sankara Subramaniam, Editor, Kalaimagal magazine, was the chief guest. The results: 1. Velammal ‘A’ 28.5/30 (V.A.V. Rajesh 8/8, J. Mohana Priya 7, P. Uthra 6.5, C.H. Swetha 7); 2. Jawahar Vidyalaya 26.5 (D.S. Shashank 7, G. Akash 6, Ajay Srikanth 5, S. Kaushik 5); 3. Chettinad Vidyashram ̵ 6;A’ 21.5; 4. Chettinad Vidyashram 20.5. Board prizes: 1. V.A.V. Don Bosco MHSS (Egmore) won the inter-school tennis tournament, organised as a part of St. Bede’s Anglo Indian HSS centenary celebrations here from July 31 to August 3. Chettinad Vidyashram finished second. Fourteen schools took part in the tournament.
