India takes on Pakistan today

VISAKHAPATNAM: After an impressive show at the just-concluded Commonwealth volleyball championship in Kolkota where it finished runner-up, a confident India meets Pakistan in a five-Test series commencing at the Port Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.

The first two Tests will be held here on Tuesday and Wednesday.

DD Sports will telecast the matches live from 6 p.m.

The head coach of Pakistan team, Stefan G. Dimitrov, acknowledged that India had performed very well at the Central Asia championship held in Pakistan earlier and continued to do well in Kolkota.

The former Bulgarian international, who has been with the team for the last five months on a one-year contract, said that his players were in the process of preparing for the Asian championship to be held in Jakarta in September.

“Pakistan finished third in the Commonwealth championship and it is important for us to show our best here. The combination attack was not so good at Kolkota”, he said.

“The team is in good shape and we made a good start this year by winning gold at the Central Asia championship and being runner-up at the Commonwealth meet”, Indian coach, G.E. Sridharan said. — Special Correspondent
