Rupee ends lower

MUMBAI: The rupee on Monday reacted sharply downwards to end at 40.41/42 against the dollar on the back of a distinctly bearish equity market.

In a fairly active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened sluggish at Rs. 40.48/50 a dollar and ended at Rs. 40.41/42 as against Rs. 40.3350/3450 on last Friday after moving in a range of Rs. 40.41 and Rs. 40.52. — PTI
