Panel sittings rescheduled

Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD: The sittings of the G.T. Nanavati and K.G. Shah judicial inquiry commission probing the Godhra train carnage and the post-Godhra communal riots in Gujarat have been rescheduled giving the State Government one more month’s time to submit the analysis of the CDs containing mobile phone calls of some important police officers and political leaders during the crucial period.

The commission had earlier given a fortnight’s ultimatum to the government pleader to submit the analysis by August 4. The government was told that if it failed to keep the deadline, the commission would go ahead “ex-parte” with the analysis submitted by the Jansangharsha Manch, representing the riot victims before the commission.

The commission, however, has re-scheduled its sittings fixing September 3 as the new date.
