Globe Trotters dismissed cheaply

Chennai: Left-arm spinner K. Chakradhar Rao and off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan — with four wickets apiece — combined effectively as Indian Bank dismissed Globe Trotters for 197 on a rain-affected second day of the fifth round in the TNCA first division league.

Badri Attavar, with an innings of 47, top-scored for the host at the MRF Pachaiyappa’s ground. Indian Bank was 52 for one in reply.

At the IIT-Chemplast ground, off-spinning all-rounder R. Ashwin followed up his century with four for 42 to send Young Stars, pursuing Jolly Rovers’ first innings 326 for eight declared, reeling at 78 for nine. Earlier, off-spinner K. Srinivasan and left-arm spinner L. Ganesh claimed three and four wickets for Young Stars. Ajay Kudua made 57 (83b, 3x4, 3x6).

Eagle CC was 93 for five — Wilkins Victor scored 46 — replying to Grand Slam’s 181 at the ICL-Guru Nanak ground. In the Grand Slam innings, paceman S. Senthil Kumar and leg-spinner S. Samuel picked up seven wickets between them.

IOB, 53 for six overnight, was bundled out for 85 by Alwarpet at MAC. V. Subramania Siva, who sent down medium pacers, scalped four batsmen. Left-arm spinners D. Vasu and S. Vidyut took two wickets each.

No play was possible at SRMC and CPT-IP due to wet ground conditions.

The scores: At MAC: IOB 85 in 43.5 overs (V. Subramania Siva four for 29) vs Alwarpet six without loss in six overs.

At ICL-Guru Nanak: Grand Slam 181 in 60.3 overs (Sunil Oasis 43, S. Senthil Kumar four for 33) vs Eagle CC 93 for five in 36 overs (Wilkins Victor 46).

At MRF-Pach: Globe Trotters 197 in 89.3 overs (Badri Attavar 47, K. Chakradhar Rao four for 46, Malolan Rangarajan four for 77) vs Indian Bank 52 for one in 16 overs.

At IIT-Chemplast: Jolly Rovers 326 for eight decl. in 96. 1 overs (R. Ashwin 122, S. Vasanth Saravanan 82, N. Ajay Kudua 57, L. Ganesh four for 86) vs Young Stars 78 for nine in 34 overs (R. Ashwin four for 42).
