Karthik lets his bat do the talking

Rain really saved India from defeat against England in the first cricket Test at Lord’s. Though India’s young bowlers did their job well, its batsmen let the team down. But Dinesh Karthik once again proved his worth by batting well under gloomy conditions.

Lucky reprieve

The rain intriguingly denied England a victory at Lord’s although the odds were in favour of it. The lucky escape provided Rahul Dravid a reprieve. Team India needs a sports psychologist and not just an efficient coach to bowl its opponents out and succeed on a regular basis.

A great escape

India had a great escape in the Lord’s Test, thanks to rain, Dhoni, Laxman and Sreesanth in that order. But full credit to Dhoni and Laxman, who consumed time and balls to take India to where natural causes decided the fate of the game. As a tail-ender, Sreesanth played sensibly rather than going for shots like Zaheer Khan and R.P. Singh. India’s batting has not fired as expected.

Bowlers to the fore

It is really unfortunate that our so-called world class batsmen undid what the bowlers did for the team in the Lord’s Test. Everyone had doubts as to whether the Indian bowlers would bowl the opposition out twice but they proved everyone wrong.
