Women empowerment only a myth

All the people who take pride over the selection of Pratibha Patil as the President of India should realise that women empowerment, particularly in choosing a woman as president, is just a mask as she would remain loyal to the party concerned.

Notice how many eminent, upright, honest and efficient women like Veena Sikri, IFS, Reva Nayyar, IAS, Kiran Bedi, IPS, were denied promotions to some of the top posts they deserve.

Opposition wasting time in House

It is being observed that ever since Telugu Desam leaders have been sitting in the Assembly as an opposition party, besides leaders from various parties like CPI, CPI (M) and BJP, they are indulging in activities such as obstructing the transaction of the business approved by the Business Advisory Committee of the Legislature by raising insignificant issues through a notice of an Adjournment motion or during the Zero Hour.

If the Speaker disallows them, they troop into the well of the assembly and indulge in exhibiting their lungpower. Is it not improper on the part of the Opposition to disrespect the decision of the Business Advisory Committee where they are also one of the representatives. Let sanity prevail so they do not waste public funds for such disruptions.

Disturbing trend

It is distressing to note that an MLA degrades himself to the level of a rowdy, slaps a police constable and dares to snatch away the official papers from the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad at the official meeting. One MLA calls a district Collector a ‘useless fellow’ for frivolous reason.

Another pounces upon a Tahsildar (MRO) and the third one insults a woman Collector of a district Another big boss curses a Chief Engineer who succumbs to heart failure later. These so-called people’s servants are those who beg and win the elections by making false promises of serving the public.

No special care at KGH

Patients visiting the King George Hospital’s outpatient wing for specialised treatment are being treated only by junior doctors.

The specialists are not visiting the OP and I appeal to the KGH Superintendent to ensure specialist’ treatment there.
