Hamburg: Indian golfer Shiv Kapur remained in contention for a top-10 finish after returning a steady two-under 70 to be tied for the 15th spot following the penultimate round of the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe. Kapur now has a total of eight-under 208 at the Gut Kaden course. The 25-year-old shot a blemish free front nine studded with three birdies but stumbled to bogeys on the 10th and 18th in his backward journey. His birdies came on the first, second, sixth and 15th holes. Romero on top
At the top, Argentina’s Andres Romero, who was in lead at the British Open with two holes to go, has put himself in line for his maiden European Tour title. Romero shot a nine-under 63, which would have equalled the Gut Kaden course record but for preferred-lies. He took a two-shot lead over England’s Zane Scotland (66) into the final round on 17-under 199. Romero fired two eagles and five birdies in a flawless card. Another Englishman Lee Slattery lies third on 14-under, three shots behind Romero. Swede Alex Noren (65) is a further stroke back. Defending champion Robert Karlsson of Sweden is tied for the fifth place on 10-under. — PTI
