Protests against Mudigonda incident
Special Correspondent
SRIKAKULAM: Left parties and Telugu Desam organised dharnas and rallies in all mandal headquarters in the district on Sunday. They were protesting against the killing of six persons by the police in Mudigonda in Khammam district on Saturday.
In Srikakulam, the effigy of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was burnt at the busy seven-road junction where normal traffic was affected for some time. Telugu Desam district unit president and MLA Gouthu Shyam Sundar Sivaji compared the Mudogonda killings with the Jallianwalabag massacre.
The three-year rule of Dr. Reddy was marked by suppression of people who were fighting for their rights, he alleged.
The leaders held Dr. Reddy responsible for the incident and demanded his resignation.
