Support for SHGs to market products

Staff Reporter

NAMAKKAL: The district administration would extend necessary support to the self-help groups to market their products, Collector G. Sundaramurthi said.

He was speaking at the valedictory of a training programme on Rexin bags manufacturing and toy making organised by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in association with a Dharmapuri-based entrepreneurship development centre here recently. The Collector said that the products made by the groups should meet the quality standards and should be sold at an affordable cost.

The administration had made arrangements for the SHGs to sell their products at the Valvil Ori festival to be held in Kolli Hills on August 2 and 3, he added.

Mr. Sundaramurthi further said the district administration had already achieved the target fixed for extending revolving funds to SHGs this fiscal. It had given revolving fund to 560 groups through the banks. Concerted efforts were being made to improve the performance of self-help groups by extending credit-linked subsidy, training and guidance.

Later, he distributed certificates to 150 candidates who completed the training successfully. Loans were also provided to them to take up income generation activities.

District Rural Development Agency Project officer P. Renuga Devi, Mahalir Thittam project officer Muthumeenal and senior officials were present.
