Lahiri opens up nine-shot lead

GURGAON: Three birdies on the last six holes helped Anirban Lahiri register his third successive sub-par round and pull ahead with a nine-shot lead in the PGTI Qualifying School’s Final Stage at the Golden Greens Golf and Country Club here.

The 20-year-old Lahiri, who won silver medal in the Doha Asian Games, carded two-under 70 to aggregate seven-under 209 after three rounds as amateur golfers maintained their sway in the Q-school.

Tailing Lahiri were Ranjit Singh (76) and Raj Randhawa (76), were both at two-over 218. Feroze Ali Mollah maintained his fourth position after scoring 74 for an aggregate of 220. — Principal Correspondent
