BEML stuns Kanaka

BANGALORE: BEML, Mysore staged a valaiant fightback to beat Kanaka, Kolar 76-73 and booked its spot in the quarterfinals of the State ‘B’ division basketball championship for men here at Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Friday.

It was Kanaka, which held the whip hand in the first half racing to a 41-26 lead with Ramakrishna finding the rival hoop at regular intervals.

BEML put up a strong zone defence and with good efforts from forwards Ramakant (15 ) and Jayanth (11) forged ahead in the last quarter and held on to snatch an exciting win.

BEML, Mysore 76 (Ramakant 16, Jayanth 11) bt Kanaka, Kolar 73 (Ramakrishna 26, Naveen 19). SBI 58 (Jagdish 22, Sudarshan 15) bt SAI, Dharwad 40 (Bharath Shetty 11).

Devanga SU 47 (Harsha 15, Satwik 18 ) bt Ambedkar SC 44 (Shreyas 10).
