Parking woes multiply
Owning a vehicle does not appear to be a pleasure any more. There is no proper earmarked provision for parking in many parts of the city and the traffic police have launched a massive campaign to pick vehicles that are found along the roads. Thus, over the last week, the scene of policemen towing away cars and carrying away bikes that are found in no-parking areas has become common. Worst affected are visitors to banks, ATMs and those thronging the shopping areas in the heart of the city. And the scene of many pleading with the traffic police to spare their vehicle and allow them to drive away is being replayed all over at different stretches.
