Bangalore: Ambedkar SC defeated Bharath Sports Union 52-50 through extra-time in a State ‘B’ division basketball league match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Wednesday evening. The teams were tied at 40-40 at full-time before Ambedkar SC pulled ahead in extra-time. Kiran (18) excelled for Ambedkar SC while Bharath Sports Union despite leading 26-15 at half-time frittered away the advantage. STC Bangalore defeated STC Calicut 2-0 in a SAI South Zone inter-hostel football tournament match at the Football Stadium here on Wednesday. K. Shiva Kumar (35th min.) and Raghavendra (70th min.) scored for the victors. Both teams qualified for the final on Friday as STC Bangalore topped the league with an all-win record (nine points) while STC Calicut emerged second with four points. Meanwhile in an earlier match, STC Kurnool held STC Kollam to a 1-1 draw. Sam Koshy’s 66th minute strike helped STC Kollam edge ahead but STC Kurnool drew parity through D. ABHS beat Marimallappa’s High School, Mysore, by five wickets in the seminfinals. The scores (semifinals): Marimallappa’s High School 76 for nine in 30 overs (Vishal three for 13) lost to Abhinava Bharathi HS, Mandya 77 for five in 14.4 overs (Suchith three for 21).
