Chennai: Santhome defeated St. Bede’s by one wicket in a thrilling final of the St. Bede’s Centenary-Sumeru Soft under-15 cricket tournament at the St. Bede’s ground here on Monday. B. Rahul (31 not out) guided Santhome, pursuing 116, home in the tense final moments. Santhome won with just one delivery to spare. TNCA president N. Srinivasan was the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu presided. Former India cricketers A.G. Milkha Singh and V.B. Chandrasekar, former students of St. Bede’s, were present on the occasion. The scores: (final): St. Bede’s AIHSS 115 for eight in 35 overs lost to Santhome HSS 116 for nine in 34.5 overs (B. Rahul 31 not out, B. Indrajit three for 12); Man of the Match: B.
