Community spirit: Children enjoying the Langar during the Urs Mubarak Hazarat Gharib Nawaj organised by Raza-E-Mustafa Milad Committee at Dargha Street in Berhampur on Saturday.
BERHAMPUR: ‘Urs’ of great Sufi saint Khwaza Moinuddin Chisti of Ajmer was celebrated at Dargah Street of the city on Saturday. This Urs was organized by the Raza-E-Mustafa Milad Committee. The celebrations included recitation of Kuran Sharif and discourse on the life and philosophy of the Sufi saint. A large mass feat was marked the day. Over 1500 persons from all communities took part in this mass feast. Muhammad Riyaz Alam, the Imam of Nazarani mosque and Hazi Muhammad Furkhan Ahmed through their discourses highlighted the principles of communal harmony and oneness of almighty that was propagated by the Sufi saint, who was also known as Khwaza Garib Nawaz for his love to provide solace to the downtrodden. Khwaja Sahib was a scholar of great repute. He interpreted the true Islamic message of love for mankind and through that, love for the Almighty Creator. He preached the Qur’anic philosophy of unity of religion and worked out its potentialities for the whole of humanity. He was the greatest mystic of his time. He laid the foundation of the liberal Chishtia order of Sufis in India, and inspired millions of souls to be his followers, and thus served the masses of the Indian sub-continent.
