BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa Government on Saturday decided to create a fund of Rs. 5 crores for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Finance Cooperative Corporation. A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Advisory Board at the State Secretariat. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik presided over the meeting. The creation of the fund will help activate the Corporation and extend more loans to those belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, the government said in an official release. In another major decision, the meeting decided to further encourage inter-caste marriages by increasing the support money from the present Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000. The Chief Minister said the SC ST Development Finance Cooperative Corporation had a target to give assistance to 18,250 families during the current financial year. Mr. Patnaik said efforts were being made to train 00 SC/ST engineers in software development companies in the State.
