Smooth polling in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: Polling for the Presidential election was conducted smoothly amidst heavy security at the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polling station on Thursday.
The Assembly has a total strength of 230. Since two seats are vacant, the total voter count here was 228. All, except Narayan Tripathi and Sunilam, both belonging to the Samajwadi Party, exercised their franchise.
Briefing mediapersons, the Returning Officer and Principal Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Assembly, A.K. Pyasi, said the first to cast his vote was the Speaker, Ishwardas Rohani, followed by the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, State Ministers and other MLAs.
The MLA from Mehgaon, Munna Singh Narwaria, suffering from brain haemorrhage, cast his ballot with the assistance of officials at the polling station.
