TAMBARAM: Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan on Wednesday inaugurated the College Union Society of Madras Christian College, Tambaram. In his address, he appealed to office-bearers of the society to strive to make students fond of their mother tongue and also respect it.
He said it was observed that humanism of people got reduced, who had little respect and love for their mother tongue.
Speaking on the richness of Tamil language, he said several overseas scholars who visited Tamil Nadu in the past centuries had concluded that the roots of Tamil were established in several European languages.
Tambaram MLA S. R. Raja, college principal V. J. Philip, C. Joseph Barnabas, vice-president of the College Union Society and S. Selvakumar and N. Deepan Raj, chairman and secretary respectively of the students’ union were also present.
