For better health: Conservancy workers of Tirupur Municipality cleaning Government hospital premises on Tuesday.

TIRUPUR: Following severe criticism by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly’s Assurances Committee over the poor conservancy condition at the District Head Quarters Government Hospital, the Tirupur Municipality on Tuesday embarked on a massive cleaning programme at the premises.

Garbage removed

More than 400 sanitary workers of the local body and 200 workers attached to the self-help groups that have been taking up garbage cleaning in many wards were deployed for the job.

Two excavators-cum-loaders and 10 lorries were pressed into service to unload the garbage inside the premises, an official said.

Service

However, the wards in the hospital were not cleaned during the drive. The hospital authorities should engage their staff to clean the floors and the toilets of the wards, sources said.
