Runway repaired

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: One of the runways of the city’s Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International airport was closed to air traffic for sometime on Wednesday after a portion of it near the threshold of the airport was found to have “peeled off.”

An inquiry is being conducted into the development, airport sources said.

Immediately after the detection the air traffic control issued a notice to all air-men at 11 a.m. Emergency repairs were carried out and the departure of two flights was delayed as a result.
