‘Nuclear deal in last lap’

Special Correspondent

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday characterised the India-U.S. negotiations on the civilian nuclear deal as being “in the last lap.”

“I do not know,” he replied when asked if the latest round of negotiations would produce a final agreement.

The Prime Minister was interacting with the media after releasing a book at his official residence.

The Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser, M.K. Narayanan and other senior officials are in Washington to talk with President Bush’s National Security Adviser.
