Health camps will be held periodically, says Collector

THENI: Theni district stood first in the State in executing tribal welfare schemes and third in implementing various health schemes, according to Collector Har Sahay Meena.
“We have been taking massive efforts to take welfare schemes to the people quickly to enable them to enjoy the benefits.”
He was addressing a special awareness meeting on Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam at Sillamarathupatti in Bodi taluk on Wednesday.
Sillamarthupatti, Koozhaiyanur and Anaikaraipatti panchayats had been identified for implementation of AGMT scheme. Six more panchayats in the block would be selected for executing the scheme this year.
Over 122 development works such as laying of cement roads, renovation of burial ground, drinking water, drainage and street light facilities and construction of group houses, at an estimated cost of Rs.1.14 crore had been undertaken, he said.
Economic development activities such as development of wasteland and distribution of micro credit to SHGs were expedited.
Health camps would be conducted periodically to bring advanced medical care to the doorsteps of villages, Mr. Meena added.
Later, the Collector gave away hand sprayer, old age pension and financial assistance to destitute widow and landless labourer. Welfare aid worth Rs.3.75 lakh had been disbursed at the function.
